Description

Edsall class Destroyer Escort, 85 ships of the class were built during WWII, they differed only from the preceding Cannon class by their engines, the GM Mod. 16-278A diesel engines with electric drive were replaced by Fairbanks-Morse geared diesel engines of the same power.

Black Cat Models kit represent the ship as in service with the U.S.Coast Guard in the mid-fifties. Twelve Edsall DEs were transfered from 1951 to 1954 from the Navy to the Coast Guard, and were converted for ocean station search and rescue duty.
