The US Coast Guard Sentinel-class Fast Response Cutters (FRC) are replacing the aging 110-foot Island Class patrol boats. The FRCs are capable of deploying independently to conduct a variety of missions. A total of 65 vessels are planned with 54 in service at this time. All Sentinel-class cutters are named after enlisted service men and women in Coast Guard, or one of its precursor services, who were recognized for their heroism.

The Sentinel-class cutters measure 154 feet long (46.8 m) with a beam of 26.6 feet (8.1 m) and a draft of 9.5 feet (2.9 m), displacing 359 tons. The cutters are armed with a Mk 38 Mod 2 25mm automatic gun and four .50 caliber Browning machine guns. The vessels also carry an Over the Horizon interceptor boat. The cutters have a top speed of 28 knots with an endurance of 5 days and a complement of 4 officers and 20 crew.
