Description
Maquette d'un Fairmile A Type motor launch, conception et impression 3D.
Possibilité de construire plusieurs versions du bateau dont sa version mouillage de mines.
The Fairmile A Type motor launch was designed prior to the outbreak of World War II. Initially, the Admiralty did not place an order for the A Type. However, soon after hostilities started, 24 were ordered in September 1939 in response to a shortage of anti-submarine warfare motor launches. The order was later reduced to 12 after trials for
the Fairmile B Type showed that they were superior to the A Type.
The 110-foot long A Type was designed an ASW motor launch, carrying 12 depth charges. Some were refitted as minelayers, carrying either 9 moored mines or 6 ground mines. Armament changed during their service life. During the war, four A Types were lost due to mines.
